Oakmont is located in the heart of the Valley of the Moon Sonoma County, approximately one hour from San Francisco and forty minutes from the Pacific Ocean. It sits half way between Santa Rosa and Sonoma on the Scenic Hwy 12.

Residents at Oakmont enjoy many popular activities: bridge, tennis, lawn bowling, golfing, cultural, social, fitness with active clubs and organizations for every hobby and interest. Oakmont Village is a Premier Retirement Community in Northern California. Living in our moderate climate, you will enjoy an active, healthful lifestyle year- round.

Two beautiful and challenging eighteen hole golf courses are the centerpieces of Oakmont Village , a premier Retirement Community in Northern California. The climate is perfect for golfing. Both golf courses feature undulating greens, natural hazards including creeks and ponds, hundreds of mature trees and superb views of the mountains in nearby state parks.

When playing golf at Oakmont, choose either the challenging 72 par 6,000-yard West Course, or what is considered to be Northern California's finest executive-style course, the par 63 4,300-yard East Course. In addition to a driving range and practice putting greens, there are two pro shops, a newly remodel bar and restaurant open to the public and a clubhouse for member functions.

The West Golf Course. The West Course is a layout of 6,059 yards from the white tees, with a Northern California Golf Association white tees course rating for men of 69.6 and a 120 Slope rating.

The East Golf Course. The shorter East Course (no par fives) measures 4,293 yards from the white tees and has a NCGA white tees course rating for men of 59.8 and a 94 Slope. Despite its shorter length, many golfers consider the East course to be equally as challenging as the West.

Oakmont Golf Club. The courses are owned and operated by the Oakmont Golf Club ("OGC"), a for-profit organization made up entirely of Oakmont residents. The Club is dedicated to offering fine golf at affordable rates and to the constant improvement of its courses and properties.

Swimming Pools - Each of our three large recreation centers has a heated pool and spa. You can choose a pool for diving, laps, or water aerobics -- or you can "just swim." For those so inclined, the Swim Club adds a social dimension.

Tennis Courts - The terms "active" and "social" also describe the tennis club.

Outdoor Activities - While a membership of over 300 players assures scheduled and tournament play at all skill levels, being a member is not required of residents for informal play at any of the EIGHT COURTS.

Lawn Bowling - A newly rebuilt lawn bowling green now gives our internationally recognized lawn bowlers a facility to match their skills. Oakmont was selected to host the North American Challenge Lawn Bowls Tournament in September of 1998. This was an international recognition for which we are proud. Beginning and intermediate players are most welcome in the club and are sure to enjoy the camaraderie.

Bridge - Oakmont also offers: Bocce Ball, Shuffleboard and Petanque as choices for court games. Bridge is a very popular game.

Fitness Center - A remodeled and enhanced Fitness Center now offers a wide range of exercise machines and has become a popular place to enjoy the views while you strengthen and improve your body.

Computer Center - The new Computer Center provides training for both the pc and mac platforms. They also have "walk in" times when you can practice or consult the volunteers available to help. Since it opened in mid-1998, the Computer Center has been well received and a big success.

Oakmont Visual Aids Workshop - Oakmont is an active adult community. Living in our moderate climate you will enjoy an active, healthful lifestyle year-round. There are many opportunities for charitable work, particularly the Oakmont Visual Aids group. The Oakmont Visual Aids Workshop is unique to the Oakmont Adult Community. It was founded in 1971 by a retired teacher and ten Oakmont friends. From their first year, when 18 visual aid books were carefully made for local schools, they now have over 100 volunteers that meet regularly. The group is responsible for over 80,000 Tactile Aids, lovingly made by hand and sent worldwide, free of charge, to professionals teaching visually and mentally impaired children. Donations support this incredible effort. They may be contacted through the Oakmont website, e-mail address, postal or telephone.
